When you use GitSwipe, we collect the following information:

  • GitHub Profile Information: Your GitHub username, email address, and profile photo when you sign in with GitHub
  • Repository Interactions: Records of repositories you star, pass, or save within the app
  • Preferences: Your selected programming languages, categories, and filter settings
  • Usage Data: Anonymous analytics about how you use the app to improve our service

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Authenticate your identity and provide access to the app
  • Star repositories on GitHub on your behalf when you swipe right
  • Personalize repository recommendations based on your preferences
  • Maintain your history of interactions within the app
  • Improve and optimize the GitSwipe experience

3. Third-Party Services

GitSwipe integrates with the following third-party services:

  • GitHub: We use GitHub OAuth for authentication and the GitHub API to fetch repository data and star repos on your behalf
  • Firebase: We use Firebase Authentication for secure sign-in management

These services have their own privacy policies that govern their use of your data.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely on our servers. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction. GitHub OAuth tokens are stored securely and are only used to perform actions you explicitly request.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the Settings screen in the app, which will remove all your data from our servers. Note that stars you made on GitHub will remain on your GitHub account.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data stored in GitSwipe
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Revoke GitHub access permissions at any time via your GitHub settings

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy.
